As a local community church we really enjoy getting out and about in the community. To make a bit of a splash, we refurbished an old ‘Coca Cola’ refrigerated trailer, got bright new flags printed and got together a BBQ and a couple of flash gazebo’s.
We love to get out in the community meeting people no matter what the setting. Excited to try out our new set up, we decided to fill the trailer with food and games, and spend a Sunday at the beautiful Days Bay beach.
With the kids, dogs and trailer in tow, we found a sunny spot to set up the volleyball net, beach games and our orange flags for everyone to see who we are – we definitely stood out! We spent the day relaxing and chatting under the gazebos, lazing in the sun, eating too many bacon butties off the barbie and ice cream from the shop, and even enjoyed some entertaining paddle boarding from a few of the more enthusiastic of the group.
What a great way to enjoy the unusually warm 2016 Wellington summer! We had a fabulous day chatting with other Wellingtonians who were out enjoying the day. The flags, trailer and smell of bacon attracted the people and we were thrilled to be able to tell people more about who we are and share our experience of a living God. We left relaxed and revived… All in all it was a great event to kick off the year!
